Response to Intervention

Response to Intervention integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and to reduce behavioral problems. With RTI, schools use data to identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence-based interventions and adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities or other disabilities. (NCRTI, 2010).

The Phoenix Central School District believes all students can learn. The district has put a Response to Intervention plan in place to prevent students from struggling academically and/or behaviorally and to provide supports to those students that may fall behind their grade level or course expectations. RTI represents a systematic, research based educational approach to close achievement gaps for all students, including, but not limited to, students at-risk, students with disabilities, and English language learners. Our RTI model illustrates the three tiers of intervention strategies.

Additional information regarding our RTI process can be found in our District RTI Plan. We are continually working to improve upon our RTI process in each of our buildings to ensure that all students are learning at high levels.
